Do I need a visa to visit Morocco?
Citizens of the EU, the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia and many other countries can visit Morocco without a visa for up to 90 days. You need a passport valid for your whole stay. Other nationalities should check with a Moroccan consulate.
Can I visit Tangier for a day from Spain?
Yes. Fast ferries from Tarifa reach Tanger Ville port in the city centre in about an hour, so a same-day return is easy. Bring your passport: border control happens on board or at the port. We meet you at the exit and plan the day around your ferry times.
What money should I bring?
The dirham is a closed currency, so you get it once you arrive. Exchange it at the airport, the port or a bank, or use the ATMs found all over Tangier. Hotels and larger shops take cards, but in the medinas cash is king.
Which languages are spoken?
Arabic and Amazigh (Tamazight) are the official languages, and Moroccan Arabic (Darija) is spoken day to day. French is widely used, and in the North many people also speak Spanish. Our guides work in English, French, Spanish and Arabic.
When is the best time to visit the North?
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are mild and green. Summer is warm, with a breezy coast. Winter brings rain to the Rif mountains around Chefchaouen and Akchour, but the cities are quiet and pleasant.
What should I wear?
Comfortable walking shoes for the cobbled medinas, and clothes that cover shoulders and knees, which locals appreciate. Most mosques in Morocco are open to Muslims only, so your guide will show you the best places to view them from outside.
